Probiotic Supplements & Infant Formula

Probiotics are live microorganisms promoted with claims that they provide health benefits when consumed, generally by improving or restoring the gut flora. We offer nine different probiotic strains, each having its own characteristics and qualities.

CHR-Hansen is a global leading manufacturer of probiotics with more than 140 years of experience, offering different products in various forms for the below applications:

Immune system support: 70% of the body’s immune cells are located around the gut where they may interact with the microbiota. Therefore it is important to have a balanced microbiota to support the immune system. A well-functioning immune system ensures an appropriate response to harmless substances like the food you eat and harmful substances such as viruses, etc. In that way, the immune system protects the body from unfriendly intruders. However, our immune system may be challenged, causing various discomforts.

Gastrointestinal Balance: The gastrointestinal microbiota – i.e., the bacteria living in our intestines – constitutes the largest part of the human microbiome. The bacterial balance in our gastrointestinal tract is important for ensuring proper digestion and general wellbeing. We want to have a well-functioning bowel characterized by regular bowel movements, normal transit time and stool consistency. However,

sometimes the balance is disrupted due to e.g., diet, antibiotics or foreign bacteria, resulting in a variety of discomforts, ranging from slow bowel function with lumpy and hard stools, to too fast digestion with frequent loose and watery stools, not to mention bloating or passing of gas.

Women micro flora: The urogenital microbiota fluctuates during the monthly cycle and is characterized by an acidic environment and the presence of various lactobacilli. A balanced female microbiota contributes to the wellbeing and quality of life of women. The delicate urogenital ecosystem may, however, be destabilized in different ways, causing various kinds of bother and discomfort.

Infants: Probiotics are highly recommended for infants; it is confirmed by modern medical research that breast milk contains various species of beneficial bacteria, such as bifidobacteria and lactobacilli. Therefore breast-feeding plays an important role in the development and growth of normal gut microflora.”
